Boston Branded Babes take on Boston Connect - Nov 2018

11/9/2018

OKAYYY…so Truelife™

I’ve been wanting to attend a Connect Boston event for F O R E V E R.

In 2017, I worked a Connect Boston Influencers event and it was wild. Incredible food, fabulous networking, and great photo ops (there was an entire LIVING WALL of plants with a giant glowing Verizon logo in the middle). It was an indescribable.

More recently, I worked a Connect Boston event for Bostonians in the engineering and technology field. It was a light, social mixer with plenty of people from all sorts of backgrounds. I loved orchestrating this event and assuring everyone had a positive experience at the mixer.

But...when would my rainbow come? When would I get the call that I, Samantha Gottlich, could take off my work flats and throw on a pair of Go-Go boots and go? I wanted, no, I craved to tap my shoes together and say “there’s no place like Connect Boston, there’s no place like Connect Boston” and transport to a fabulous, exclusive mixer.

And then, it happened. By the grace of all things good and holy; I got that DM. That gold encrusted, slide-into-my-dm’s invite, leading me to beam ear-to-ear. I was invited to the Boston Magazine Connect Boston event (In collaboration with Google and Verizon).

“We’re in. And we’ve got a plus one, to-boot”

Rollin' up to connect

I've seen the commercials, the tweets, the emails. Google was ready to rock my world with a new phone. As I sat, reading tweet after tweet on my busted, shattered, humiliating (insert competitor's name here) cellphone; I was ready for this event. Baby, I was born ready.  Rock my socks off Google, I dare you to.

The event was hosted at The Liberty Hotel in Boston. With NROR ART (my designs) and modeling on-and-off throughout the last 5 years, I was very familiar with the hotel. Fashionably Late fashion shows are held there every Thursday evening. I knew the hotel was fabulous (and popping)! It was the place to be, especially on a Thursday night.

I rolled up to the hotel around 6:45 (I'm fashionably late...how fitting) and dropped my Tiburon off at the valet. I met up with my friend Shruti, who is a queen that works alongside me during some of our most intense promotions. The fifth floor was filled with fabulous individuals and influencers, chatting and exploring the displays.  I felt full of curiosity and in my absolute element.
Picture
The hotel wraps around in a circle, allowing guests to walk in a ring and look down on the floors below. It's a funky and unusual vibe, leading to an upbeat atmosphere.

Shruti and I walked around the floor and visited the Google stations throughout the floor. Each station demonstrated an aspect of the phone in an interactive way. I loved playing with the Google Lens and extended selfie. I've never seen these featured, and never knew how helpful these features would be for someone who uses their phone religiously for work.  It made me wish my own beat-up, cracked-up cellphone had the same capabilities!

Light bites to start the night

While walking around and exploring the new features on the Google Pixel 3, we saw plenty of familiar faces. And with that, plenty of chit-chat and catching up. All that talking works up an appetite and I loved the bites made at this event. Pad thai. Dumplings. Mushroom sliders. Tuna tar-tar. Mini grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was fabulous, delicious, and elevated the night!

Potions in motion

What's a night out in Boston without a drink? Thankfully, Connect Boston had us covered! Complimentary drinks was much appreciated, especially on a Thursday evening. I tried the Connector and a glass of Chardonnay. I'm not sure which drink I liked most!

sweets for some sweeties

As the night began to come to a close, the sweets appeared. Whoever baked the sweets and made the amazing light bites, hats off to them! Brownie and cake pops, macaroons, mini cup cakes, tarts; how could you not want to try a little bit of everything? I especially loved the mini Google cupcakes (I'm a sucker for Salted Caramel this time of year).

Groovy in google

Shruti and I noticed the guests flocking to a separate room during the event. Curiosity lead to us following and we came across a fabulous discovery. Two women were live engraving necklaces and money clips for the guests. It was a wonderful keepsake and reminder of the great night full of great company (and great companies). The women were from a local jewelry store named "Filomena Demarco Jewelry" and they were engraving initials into the Google necklaces and money clips. We both had necklaces made and they came in adorable canvas "Google Pixel 3/Verizon" bags. I immediately put mine on once it was finished!
Picture

Closing the night

At the close of the night, we chatted with the photographers (who I knew from an event I was apart of at The W Hotel). We snapped some last photos and exchanged information.

t was such a fabulous evening of awesome influencers, great companies, delicious food, and fabulous conversation. We didn't even want the event to end! Shruti and I ended up staying and watching the Fashionably Late show and chatting for hours after!

It was an amazing evening at the Boston Magazine Boston Connect event (in collaboration with Google Pixel 3 and Verizon).

Thank you so much, to Boston Magazine for inviting me.  I look forward to reading your next issue and working (or attending) another Boston Magazine event in the future!

Rot of a lot: Thoughts on Repurposing Abandoned Lots

10/30/2018

Abandoned lots are the memories of what was once good. They are the reminders of a prosperous time that's now (seemingly) far gone. Once were warehouses bustling with economic success and here they lie, decaying and rotting reminders of a failed economic and the struggles within it. They haunt the community. They scare off potential visitors. They are the ghosts of the past that desperately require a team of Ghost Busters to zap tranquility back into the lives of others. But what are the ways in doing so for this decrepit lots?

"killing two birds with one stone"

In urban areas, it can be difficult finding resources such as fresh fruits and vegetables sold at local farmers markets. When communities cannot acquire fresh food, there can be  devastating effects on the population. To begin, fresh produce is often priced higher than products that are filled with high trans fats and preservatives. Because of this, levels of obesity are higher in urban areas. Obesity comes with lifelong issues such as heart disease, diabetes, and even death. Connected to that, it’s been proven that children who have unhealthy diets often test lowers than children who eat healthier diets. It’s systematic, it’s toxic, and it nearly seems like a war tactic on keeping people of lower economic status in place. How can people who cannot afford healthy food provide healthy food for their family? How can we solve the issue of unsightly decaying buildings?

Food for thought

The answer isn’t simple but there are ideas on how to solve this growing issue. One being community gardens. Community gardens can be seen in urban areas all over the country. Even in my own backyard, there are urban gardens by the homes near Fenway and Backbay in Boston.

Community gardens allow groups of people to get together for a greater purpose; growing and tending to produce to help their family, and other families alike. It’s a beautiful and tranquil act; purchasing seeds, tending to them, and being able to receive nutrients and benefits from the plant that was raised.  Seeds can cost less than a dollar while feeding a large family can cost nearly $100 a week.

Although fruits and vegetables cannot diminish an entire weekly grocery bill, it can remove a few expenses (which is better than nothing at all). The act of tending to a garden brings people together. Families that bounce from jobs to school can all connect and move towards one shared goal, assuring the garden is taken cared for. When plants sprout, entire families and groups alike can share in the pride of bringing life into the world through gardening. In addition, important lifelong skills such as patience and appreciation can be gained through gardening.

Reinvent...for the better

If urban areas have abandoned lots with decomposing ruins of the factories that once represented hope and progress; why not reinvent the mournful plot into something which brings community together? If the area isn’t being tended to and is remaining as an eyesore, why not make it into something that’ll better everyone? Repurposing the dreadful decaying buildings into places of community forum not only makes the residents feel joy and a newfound respect, it also makes visitors feel the same. This in turn can help the economy and real estate.

Rather than supporting the rotting of buildings, why not support the building of communities through produce?

Hitting the Road: Jumanji Vibes and Peaceful Mind in New Hampshire

1/30/2018

Most people travel to NH to ski, snowboard, and enjoy the outdoors.

Me? I go to NH to completely mess around while taking in Mother Nature's doings.

Hell. Yes.

I briefly visited New Hampshire back in November as well as January to see some of my friends.
Here are my little moments.

Visiting Keene

I've always wanted to go to Keene, NH. I'm not sure why. Honestly...I really can't think of why I would want to go.

But, with that being said, I'm glad I came to Keene before it was buried in snow!

The area is adorable and quaint. Stores are closely tucked aside one another. Local businesses flourish throughout the area. It's cozy and the lack of cell phone service is both a bad thing, and a great thing.

Thinking of Robin Williams and Jumanji

While in Keene, my friends and I experienced nostalgia and bittersweet memories that encompass reflecting back on childhood. We saw some of the shooting locations for the 1995 classic, Jumanji starring the late and great Robin Williams.

There is something so beautiful, yet tragic, seeing portions of your personal pop culture history and realizing that time has truly passed and there is no way to return, yet through media like film and photos.

Rest in Peace Robin Williams. We miss you and thank you for bringing joy into the lives of people all over the globe.

Messin' Around

Before returning back to campus to prepare to head North the following day, we visited a quiet and serene park and filled it with laughter. While exploring in the park, we found an abandoned shovel (which obviously calls for an impromptu photoshoot).

Moments like these makes me grateful for the friends and moments I'm able to share during my time on Earth.

Inhale the Imagery

Months, a season, and a hair change cut later - I returned to New Hampshire to visit my friends. This time around was focused mainly on taking in the beauty of the state.

My friends attend Franklin Pierce University, which resides in Rindge NH. Unlike the typical Boston campus, this campus has plenty of land to explore and enjoy...including a MOUNTAIN. A MOUNTAIN...
What do you do when you're faced with a beautiful, emotion-provoking, mountain?

YOU PAINT.

I took my time and allowed myself to indulge in painting and creating a picture that I felt represented the peaceful emotions I experienced while sitting on the frozen lake outside of Franklin Pierce.
Yes, you read that correctly. The lake which faced the mountain was frozen solid...which clearly means go walk on water like you're Jesus before it thaws out!!!

Franklin Pierce's Hidden Get-Away

Before I left New Hampshire, my friends Ryan and Vic showed me a hidden gem on campus. On campus, there is a little cabin facing a former ski lift trail. Not only is the view spectacular, but the inside is even cooler!

Inside lies a pad to hang out, watch tv, and chill. In the basement of the cabin is even cooler. The university created an indoor rock-wall climbing experience for its students.

I was amazed by the effort and care the university took to assure its students were content and entertained. The campus is truly gorgeous and perhaps if I could travel back in time to when I enrolled in college, I would've attended here.
Special thanks to Ryan and Vic for hosting me and showing me around your beautiful school and neighborhood.

Hitting the Road: Exploring Brookgreen Gardens, SC

1/24/2018

While driving down the East Coast on my November road trip, I spent some time with my Uncle Roger in South Carolina. Aside from going to the zoo and enjoying the beach, we took to the historic Brookgreen Gardens.

Brookgreen Gardens combines art, sculptures, gardens and a wildlife preserve together. Visitors are free to explore the gardens, observe wildlife, enjoy a picnic, and take in the beauty and relaxation of the Gardens.

Prior to coming to South Carolina, I had never heard of Brookgreen Gardens. I was only familiar of Myrtle Beach as a popular tourist destination.

Now, Brookgreen Gardens is my favorite destination in South Carolina and I cannot wait to explore the area again soon.

Nature and Art Combined

When I arrived onsite, I was nearly overwhelmed by how vast the property was and how much foot there was to cover.

My Uncle Roger and I decided to take on the sculpture area by foot then take his car to the wildlife preserve portion.

Every aspect of the property was filled with art of nature that captivated me. Every time I turned, there was a new thing to take in, observe, and appreciate.

Eurydice and Orpheus

One of my favorite stories of Greek Mythology is that of Eurydice and Orpheus. The play tells the tale of Eurydice who is killed and her husband, Orpheus, who attempts to bring her back from the dead by visiting the Underworld.

This story moved me while in high school, and I've never forgotten it since.

Therefore, I was thrilled to see the sculpture adaptation of Eurydice and Orpheus. I thought the presentation of these sculptures were almost as beautiful as the story itself.

Peace of Mind

One of the most spectacular aspects of Brookgreen Gardens is the sensation of peace of mind. The sense of calmness and serenity is undeniable.

To sit and collect my thoughts and feel deep appreciation for life felt necessary after the previous months of hurdles and issues regarding my personal life and illness.
How do these images make you feel? Do you feel at ease? Warm?

Are you impressed by the craftsmanship of these sculptures?

Nap Time for Adorable Animals

Enjoy these adorable photos I captured while visiting the wildlife refugee! Sleepy babies!!!

Feathers and Friends

I love these photos I captured while observing the animals.

Enjoy these critters!

Leaving the Garden

Before I left, I took a moment to appreciate the beauty and time I spent.

I realized I might not ever return to these beautiful and peaceful place.

I realized how blessed I was to have taken a chance, hit the road, and experienced the beauty of life outside my comfort zone.

Hitting the Road: Time Traveling in DC

1/10/2018

Over a year ago, I went to Washington DC with other students from UMass Dartmouth. We boarded a shuttle bus and drove down to see the African American Culture and History museum, Howard University, the Frederick Douglass house, and have dinner at Bus Boys and Poets.

It was an incredible experience being surrounded by history, art, and culture. Ever since then, I've had a craving to return to DC and explore other aspects of the country's capitol.

***As a preface, I wanted to note that I've decided not to go heavy on the photos for this blog post. I photographed a lot at the Holocaust Memorial Museum but decided to include minimal photos. I believe that it's best to experience what I had experienced in DC for yourself, first-hand.

The Most Important Meal of the Day!

Before I left my Baltimore Airbnb, I decided to do a quick Yelp search of breakfast places in the area. One in particular caught my eye. "Lost in the 50's diner". Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE the style of the 50's (the clothes, the furniture, the music, the cars!) so I had to have breakfast before I explored DC for the day.

The diner was absolutely precious. It seemed like it was locked in time. Everything from the decor, to the furniture, even the prices were seemingly from the 50's. I started my day with chocolate milk, grits, toast, and a poached egg. I was full and energized for less than $10 and I was ready to explore DC!

I'm Uncomfortable...

After parking my car for the day, I decided to hit the gift shop first. Every state I explore, I pick up a pin or button for my collection. The last time I was in DC, President Obama was still in office.

So...I was a little surprised to see the gift shop looking like...well...this.

I really don't know what else to say besides I can't believe this is real life...still. I don't like to get political but...geez.

Engulfed in History

The first time I've truly traveled alone was during this road trip. I had never been to a museum alone or really spent significant time in my own company.

Walking around DC, reading and observing monuments, taking my time and allowing new knowledge to find me was such a beautiful and powerful experience. I spent hours walking around DC, reading and taking in whatever I could.

I thought about the history and the footsteps that were here before me. The fights for equality. The battles for the US. The elections, the movements, the justices and injustices.

I thought about the people who died for this country. The people who died for women's rights and for African American rights. I thought about all the wrongs in today's country and thought about how I could participate in helping to create a better tomorrow.

I want to help participate in a better tomorrow.

Little (Monumental) Moments

Although it was a cloudy day exploring DC, it was beautiful. Those who were also out seemed so thrilled to be in the capitol. It was beautiful to see people of all ages and backgrounds being captivated by the history and culture among us.

History and politics can push us so far away, but can also bring us together. It can be so painful and devastating to see...but also so beautiful and powerful.

I felt so emotionally moved. I wanted these moments to last forever.

Monuments Up Close (Aka, Meeting Celebrities)

When I went to DC the first time, we didn't have enough time to visit any of the monuments outside of the agenda. The travel time and time waiting for seats at restaurants led to us having no extra time to explore.

To me, seeing parts of history is like meeting a celebrity. When I traveled to the Jersey Shore and walked the boardwalk, it was like meeting a celebrity. It sounds cheesy but it feels so monumental to me. It feels so powerful and beautiful to step into parts of history and out of the places you know so well and to explore what you've heard about but have never seen before.

Therefore, FINALLY seeing the monuments up close was MONUMENTAL to me! Spending 20 years seeing images in books, clips on tv, hearing stories from friends...I was so ready to see history in person. I felt like a kid in a candy store or Disney World. It was so thrilling to see the monuments in real life.

But, it also made me think deeply. Monuments are supposed to honor aspects of history that led to positive change and sacrifices. Then why are there still monuments of historic figures that should NOT be honored? Historic figures that led to minorities experiences suffering and mistreatment?

The Holocaust Museum

This day. This day was about learning. About opening up my mind and heart and allowing myself to be emotionally moved.

So I did. I allowed my mind and heart to be open.

When I visited the African American Culture and History museum, I allowed my mind and heart to open. I allowed tears to flow, and questions to be raised. I learned that seeing and experiencing a museum in person triumphs what is learned in the classroom.

With that being said, I've included some images from the Holocaust museum. I've decided to not include all images or my thoughts. I believe museums like this and the African American Culture and History Museum should be experienced in person individually.

Never Again.

Hitting the Road: GTL (Ghost Town Living) at the Jersey Shore

12/28/2017

Whether you watched Jersey Shore or not, I bet once upon a time you wanted to visit the shore and see the guidos get down. I wasn't a die-hard fan of the show...but...who didn't tune in when Ronny and Sam fought? Or when Snooki got clocked in the face?

While in NJ for a photoshoot, I decided to take a trip to the Shore and see what I've been missing.
Picture

Ghost Town on the Boardwalk

After spending my entire life picturing the Jersey Shore as this wild and rambunctious travel destination, I felt a little surprised by what I discovered when I arrived to the Shore. I sort-of forgot about how seasonal the Jersey Shore is; it's like The Cape meaning tourists flock all summer long but then it's quiet the moment the chill sets in.

It was a really unique experience walking down the boardwalk alone, seeing the occasional jogger. It seemed like a scary movie. One of those films about the young adults that go to some carnival or amusement park and some demonic force swings in.

In a way, it was beautiful to see the boardwalk in this light. Boarded up buildings lined the walk that once boomed with tourists.

Check, Check, Check Off the Bucketlist

Do I need to say much? I went to the Shore house from the Jersey Shore show. No, I didn't go inside or on the tour. No I didn't meet Snooki. But hey I saw THE house from the Jersey Shore show about people stuck inside a house together.

Fist bump, bro!
Picture

Mindfulness at the Shore

As I walked up and down the beach, I felt multiple emotions.

The peacefulness of the ocean waves lightly crashing on the shore. The stillness of the air. The lack of others on the beach as I was there. The shift of the day slowly coming to a close.

I felt so much admiration. This shore has seen millions of people yet keeps such a unique and seemingly everlasting beauty.

I felt so empty yet full of inner-peace at the same time. I felt fortunate to be here, in this moment, breathing in the shore's air. I felt so accomplished. I had never been to New Jersey...or to New Jersey alone for that matter. I made it. I conquered an obstacle. I made it to a new place.

I quietly admired the beach to myself before I left to find dinner. Darkness approached and it was time to seek out an Airbnb and choose the next state to head to.
Picture

Bites Before I Drive

Before I hit the road to the next leg on my road trip, I went to Aqua Blu for dinner. I had a 3 course meal of fried calamari, stuffed shells, and tiramisu. The bread and oil was a great snack after a long day of travel. The restaurant had great service and even better food.

I finished the meal with a shot of espresso, booked my Airbnb in Philly, and hit the road!

Hitting the Road: Not-So-Sunny in Philadelphia

12/28/2017

If I was to describe Philly in one word, it would be haunting. While in Philly, I felt an unshakable sense of dark, looming grief. Every where I looked, I saw signs of the emotions I felt. Was it the weather that brought on these sensations or is there something dark lingering in the city of Philly?

Warm Welcome!

I arrived in Philly after a fantastic day of exploring New Jersey. I booked an Aibnb and I was kindly greeted by the host.

The space was perfect for my stay in the area. The room had space to put my belongings, a very comfortable bed, and even water and a light snack. I also appreciated how the bathroom included shampoo, body wash, and a hair dryer.  I was also able to put my medication safely in a fridge downstairs along with my leftovers from NJ.

I rested up, had my leftovers for breakfast, and got ready to hit the road to explore the state for the day!
11/12/17

Paintings and Pain

As I drove throughout Philly, I noticed an extreme contrast throughout the area. One corner would be full of retail shops, colorful murals, and attractions flocking with tourists. Another corner would be full of decomposing buildings, homeless residents, and vandalized homes. There was something so somber yet poetic about the intersecting streets of Philly.
Fog added to the general eeriness of the city.
Murals brought life and an uplifting sense to the dark streets.
I loved the little quirky touches throughout the city.

Poe's Place

Before there were modern marvels like "It" and "The Shining"...even way before Hitchcock... Poe made hearts race and bodies tremble in utter fear.

I recall being fascinated by the poet and short story master when I was younger. I was driving around, I took a corner and stumbled across his property. I hastily parked my car and hurried to the property. Let down, I found the property closed on the day I visited. Nevertheless, I was thrilled to be outside the historic site of the famous Edgar Allen Poe.
As I rounded the building, I couldn't help to feel the chills. Fog and Poe? Now that's a site to experience!

Where's Mac?

I knew long before I started my road trip adventures that I would someday land at Paddy's. To fans of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", this is a must seen while visiting PA. I stepped in the bar and admired the pictures and familiar faces in the pictures.
Cheesin' while mentally checking off another box on the bucket list!
Picture

I Like Big Bells and I Cannot Lie

Did you really visit Philly if you didn't see the Liberty Bell?

After circling streets for nearly 20 minutes, I finally found a spot diagonal to the massive piece of history. After getting through what looked like a mini TSA, I briskly read a bit about  the history of the bell before checking it out.

Is it dumb if I saw I didn't expect it to be so massive?
Picture

Abnormalities and Medical Mysteries

When I was little, I used to spook myself out and watch the creepy TV shows on the Travel Network and the Discovery Network. I remember, so clearly, when I saw the Mutter Museum featured on one of my freaky shows. Bulging face tumors, Siamese twins preserved in casts, a giant colon the size of a couch! Everything bizarre and stomach-turning has residency at the Mutter Museum.

Unfortunately, photography is prohibited. In my opinion, this is one of the best museums I have ever been to. It is interesting and memorable, and you'll surely learn something new.

FYI - there is a student discount, too ;)

Last Stop is a Spooky One!

Towards the end of my little East Coast road trip, I slept in Pennsylvania on my last night. I had been driving up North from South Carolina and I decided to stay in PA. I always try to experience unique and memorable places...

Sleeping Above A Bar

As I drove further away from South Carolina, the winter beast showed its teeth! I decided to stay in an Airbnb above a bar in PA. I thought this was super unique and bizarre opportunity and I enjoyed myself (minus the chill in the room!).

How many people do I know that have spontaneously slept above a bar?

None.

Chilly + Creepy = Peace Out, PA!

As I continued on my last leg of my road trip, the fog from a week prior changed into snow. The more I drove, the more graveyards and grey buildings I saw. If I wasn't so anxious to get home, I would have explored this creepy part of the state. I did enjoy my time in the state and look forward to the next time I return!

Holiday Gift Giving & Style Guide: Predisposed Vintage

12/12/2017

My favorite element of fashion is bringing vintage pieces together with my own twist. I love 60's and 70's fashion all the way to modern. Transforming a look with unique pieces is how to make a fashion statement and I'm so excited to introduce you to my newest favorite online shop, Predisposed Vintage.

What is 'Predisposed Vintage'?

Bringing Nostalgia and style together, this online store brings you one-of-a-kind t's directly to you. No need to raid the shelves of your local thrift shop; Predisposed Vintage brings the vintage to you.

Creator and owner, Scott Randall, took his hobby and made it into a business. He spends his days rescuing t's that scream out memories and nostalgia from decades ago.

Why not shop small and support a business based on passion and utter enjoyment for nostalgia?
Picture

Just In Time for the Holidays

More and more, I hear from adults "I should have saved my ___ because the style is back"! They're right. Fashion is a revolving door and styles from decades ago are back. High-waisted jeans and bell bottoms, hippie dresses with bell sleeves, big fur coats.

Give the gift that keeps on giving. Millennials are bringing back fashion statements from decades ago. Rather than buying a T that looks like a remake from a retailer, why not buy an ACTUAL T from decades ago instead of a remake? Authentic and stylish, what's not to love?
Picture

Get My Look!

I'm rocking my canary yellow New York Predisposed Vintage T with some modern and vintage elements.

For jeans, I've thrown on my Momma Jeans from Saver's. LL Beans from the '90s. No matter the modern retailer, nothing can beat my '90s LL Beans.

To add a modern twist, I've added my sweater heels from DSW's clearance section. The heel is high but chunky, so you can maneuver throughout the city in a breeze. Soft felt hugs the outside leading your toes to be warm all season long!

I topped off my look with adding orange lips and eyes  (Wet and Wild cosmetics) as well as throwing my hair in a Beehive (lots and lots of Eco hair gel).

A Week of Thanks: Visiting a Giant Rock, T-Day Style Guide, Black Friday Shopping, and Time Traveling

12/7/2017

Thanksgiving. A holiday only Americans recognize. A day to proclaim you are grateful by partaking in hedonism. We dress up in our best to sit in the house and to engorge in food until we’re stuffed beyond words.

Then, (if you’re insane or a thrill seeker), we rise like the Mayflower over the raging waves and we ‘venture off to our mall to terrorize minimum wage paid employees by raiding the shelves of our consumeristic society.

Who doesn’t like to give thanks and then throw those values out the window to shop, shop, shop, and shop some more?

For me, this time of year is one of my favorites. As you may know, I am currently not enrolled in college due to my lil’ Lupus procedure. Therefore, holidays are the BEST because I’m no longer the only millennial stranded in town. I finally get to see friends and catch up before they ship back off to school.

Visiting The Rock (No...Not Dwayne)

I am so grateful for the friendships I have and the people who have came into my life. From high school to now, I feel as if I’ve lost people but also gained so many genuine, kind friends.

To start off the fabulous week of Thanksgiving festivities, friends Ryan and Lauren and I traveled to Plymouth Rock to see the rock in all its glory!

Not really sure what else to say...it's a rock surrounded by an enclosure. It's like the Lincoln Memorial besides this makes no sense at all...really a spectacle to be seen.

Not sure if I'm really overwhelmed by it or really underwhelmed. All I know is that I dressed up to MATCH a ROCK.

Turkey Time & Style Guide

Given the opportunity to slay, you know I will. Taking my style guide from my previous post, I implemented it in my T-Day look.

I may look like something off the menu (at Mcdonald's) but I'm rocking my ketchup dress, mustard legs, and patty brown clog heels. I even have a Victorian figure ring in orange to match.

Looking ready for the autumn season.
Picture
Here are some moments from my Thanksgiving.. from my family to yours!

Cutting the turkey with a turkey hat...snapping my shoes during a game of Heads Up.. the usual holiday spectacles.
Picture

Black Friday (aka, Black Cryday)

Finally...for the first time ever, I adventure and live the Black Friday adventures with friends, Ryan and Vic.

Are you smart enough to NOT Black Friday shop? If so, I covered my other-worldly experience while shopping.

Round One: 10:30-3 am

Here...in my prime. Thinking Black Friday shopping was a good idea. Oh, how very wrong I was.
Picture
Here is a moment I captured. A moment where everything would change forever. Minions at the mall to market ANOTHER minion movie. STOP. MAKING. MINION. MOVIES. GOD DAMMIT.
Picture
Here...in all its glory. Chaos at the mall.
As the time passed at the mall...all of my senses were lost. Why am I here? Where am I? Will there be leftovers left in the fridge by the time I get out of this hell hole?
Picture
Look at all these lines. For what? All these deals are available online. But here I am. One with the chaos. I am chaos.
The chaos has set in. I am laughing at nothing. What time is it? Did I leave my wax melt burning? I should buy more wax melts.
Picture
Lines...lines...lines...lines to where? We will never find out.

Lines to NO WHERE

Here we are. Vic, Ryan, and I waiting in line for the Target deals. Excited. Enthralled. Ready to get the deals unlike any other customer has ever before.
But then...disaster struck. We noticed Target didn't open until 6 am. People waiting in line scrambled. Children jumped the gate. And we turned around solemnly and left the mall.
Picture
3 am was rough. We somehow wounded up at Best Buy. The deals were ridiculously nonexistent. And I made a new friend at Best Buy (photo available).

At this point...life had no meaning. All I knew was sleep was needed...and so was shopping. I needed to shop some more.

Round 2 - 10:30 am-5 pm

After sleeping for a bit, I felt ready to return to the alternate universe we call Black Friday. Juice box in hand, tears in my eyes, I was ready to make like a bald man and get out of hair.
Picture

And we're off...

Like the western cowboys on the frontier land, we set out for more deals. Kohls, the Apple Store, the world wasn't prepared for our deal craving selves.

Was I prepared to set out for more deals? The answer is no, probably not.

The PEAK of the Day

At one point, we ended up at the holy land. Toys R Us. Not only did I get through the Christmas check list I had made, I was overpowered by nostalgia and pure joy.

Vic and I found Fur-Real-Friends (I used to have the cat) and we found plenty of claw machines and gumball machines. Vic even won a puppy at the claw machine!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Spooky IHop...

It was all fun and games until we arrived at IHop.

Dear God, why. Why was this IHop established? Why were we brought here?

We should've went to Friendly's...
Picture
This was haunting. Dear God...I will forever be traumatized. This IHop had no music. No customers. We could hear the employees fighting in the back. I felt bad for the server.

If I didn't take photos, I would have thought I dreamt this...

I'm going to suppress it again now.

Ready for Bed

Did this day even happen?  I needed sleep. But what is sleep? Have I ever slept before?

Even the signs at the Hanover mall were asleep. At least I made a new friend named Ryan's cat.
Picture

Time Travelin' To Plymouth

We slept. We recovered. Ryan and I were ready to take on the newest adventure.

We took to the streets of Plymouth to enjoy the day. First stop, Crabby shack. Why not fuel up on delicious seafood?!
We arrived to Plimouth Plantation on the LAST DAY it was opened.

It was like the pilgrims of the past whispered,"...go, my child...".
Picture
All I have to say is "Fudge yeah" to free fudge at the plantation.
We made it through the ripples of time to meet Native Americans before the pilgrims settled.
Before traveling to the settlers' land, we took a pit stop and saw pottery being made and cranberries being prepped for dinner. Yummy, yummy.
Ahhh... the beauty of the pilgrims' land,

We went into pilgrims' homes. We saw relics from the past. And, a pilgrim made Ryan help him bring a pail of water up a hill. Just call us Jack and Jill!
Finally! We bought a house together. Best friends forever and we've finally got a house together!!!

Who wants an invitation to our Christmas party?
Aww, we're all moved in and we just adopted some new goats for pets! The neighbors are lovely and just peachy!

Wrappin' Up

It was a great Thanksgiving week! I hope you had a great T-Day as well!

Holiday Gift Giving & Style Guide: NY Chula Winter Hats

11/22/2017

The bitter frost of winter is fast approaching. Temperatures drop and flip flops hit the back of the closet. We’re getting ready to bare the worst. Just stepping out the front door seems like a battle, and I’m not ready to break out the armor!
Picture
Winter fashion is usually composed of unsightly parkas and bulky snow pants. Style and fashion fly out the window. But, with NY Chula, you can stay warm with some fashion sense still attached!

Pink Poms on the Job

Ny Chula's line of hats come in two colors: black and white (Cookies and Cream). The aspect of the hats that set them apart from its competitors is the ability to change up the style!

I decided to rock the pink pom with an Intern inspired look. Taking a simple black outfit and popping it with the Breast Cancer awareness pom makes for a look that'll receive tons of compliments while walking into the office!
Picture

Mountain Mama

With both Cookies and Cream hats, the pom-poms dis-attach and can be reattached in order to match your look and add some flair!

I put together a trendy yet rugged look for going out! I matched a deep red top with light jeans to add contrast. Adding the Cookies hat with black heels tones down the look but compliments it.

Bonus round: Complete the look by adding a Chula pom and a flannel!
Picture

Take a Hike!

The chill is here, which means the "Mountain Man" look is on the rise! I personally love the look and think you can make it glam, too!!!

Instead of simply wearing black leggings and a hoodie, I wanted to SPICE it up! Rue 21 deer top? Check. Oversized thrifty flannel? Double check. Dad boots? Check, check, check!

Adding my NY Chula Cookies hat with the black pom adds the touch of glam I crave. Who says you can't look fabulous while enjoying nature?
Picture

Pass the Potatoes

Holidays are here...which means we have to get all dressed up just to sit around a table and spill food on ourselves and be a hot mess and make ourselves stuffed! (Too honest?).

With that being said, I wanted to put together a look that is physically comfy yet looks pretty fancy.

Keeping the deep red autumn/winter look in mind, I took my favorite red dress (which sort of looks like a Pilgrim dress) and added comfy shoes to match. The red dress is stretchy and comfortable but due to the sleeves and fabric, it comes off as fancy!

For shoes, I took my Doc Martens and paired them with the dress. The intense and expressive "Secret Garden" edition shoes makes for a bold look, but feels like you're wearing slippers.

Matching my kicks, I took the Cream Chula hat and the brown pom. It adds a rustic and seasonally fitting look.

What The Fudge?: Jess Merritt’s Sweetest New Business

10/24/2017

““Cooking runs more in my grandmother's side of the family, and passes more through the women.  I love cooking to express myself, and I think I love making fudge so much because I can incorporate my love of art into it. “”

Jess Merritt is serving up something sweet. She’s not your typical chick selling boxes of Girl Scout cookies. Forget that! She doesn’t have a catalog of chocolates to sell either.

Jess Merritt is taking on the art of homemade fudge and she’s throwing her own twist on it. How many teens do you know that can whip up a batch of fudge?

The Sweet Taste of Sustainability

Miss Merritt is 18 years old and finishing up her Senior year of high school. She resides on the south shore and finds herself passionate about art and animal care. Combining her love for food and animals, she aspires to own her own farm and use her own organic produce and ingredients from her farm in her future meals.

Hearing from Jess, it was so invigorating to see someone who wants to live a life of self-sustainability through farming, agriculture, and cooking.

"Batch of chocolate and cookies and cream fudge ready to be put in either the little boxes or a big fudge box. Also a half batch of smores done that's going to chill for the night"

A Yummy Year

Jess first heard the fudge calling this summer. She began working at a fudge stand at the Marshfield fair. Curiosity called and she began her first batch at home. She found cooking it to be calming and therapeutic.

Since then, she found her favorite type of fudge to make is mint chocolate because it comes out a shade of green that reminds her of Christmas. She also enjoys the process of swirling in the chocolate on top.  Her favorite fudge to eat is the cookies and cream flavor because it’s her favorite flavor for any sweet treat!

The fudge is packed up and ready to go"

The Fudge Process:
How Do You Start When Fudge is in Your Heart?

After Jess realized she was interested in making fudge, she spent days online looking at recipes that could be used to make different flavors. After experimenting and trial and error, she finally found one that fit really well and she’s been doing variations of it since.

Her process for making fudge all starts with the size of the batch that she’s making. The largest size she does is a full pan of 16 pieces, then a smaller pan of 8, and half of that pan for 4.

She then melts a bowl of chocolate chips because most of the fudge has a chocolate bottom layer. She mixes that in with the base and add it to the pan, and from there it depends on what type of fudge she’s making. But the flavors (whether it be peanut butter or more chocolate chips) are melted down with the base and then added into the pan.

She lets them set over a few hours or through the night and then cuts and boxes them in the morning.

A LOT of fudge was made today"

Brand Ambassador Tips and Tricks 3: Employment

10/18/2017

Welcome to the third blog post about #ThatBALife
If you haven’t read the other two posts, please visit
1) http://www.samanthagottlich.com/blog/batipsandtricks1
2) http://www.samanthagottlich.com/blog/batipsandtricks2
Before reading on to this post!

So you’re educated. You know the different types of BA jobs and what you might want to explore. You’re fueled up, fired up, and ready to roll. But how the HECK do you get employed? What is the process of employment? How do we make that sweet, sweet dough?

Where To Start To Get Hired?

BA jobs are unlike any other job out there. Trust me. It’s a process. Paperwork wise, the first five or so jobs seemed so frustrating! All I wanted to do was sprint into action and become a great BA! But, I had to slow down and understand that this is a job unlike any other, so the paper process is very different.
Picture

Applying for Jobs

There are endless ways on how to get BA work.

A great resource would be Facebook groups for BA’s in your area. Join the groups, turn your notifications on, and see what fits you interests! Some posts will have you email a hiring manager or sign up on an agency’s portal.

Another way to get BA work is an agency’s portal. You can apply to be staffed by an agency and if they review your credentials and profile and accept you, you can select jobs to apply to.

In addition, Craigslist and Google as well as networking on other social media platforms can lead you to some great BA jobs. Friends and coworkers who work in BA can also recruit you for other jobs if you show you’ve got the drive and the positive attitude!
Picture

Papers…Papers...Papers...

When you work as a BA, you’re almost always an independent contractor or freelancer. That means, there’s going to be a decent amount of papers going back and forth. You’re remote, the agency/recruiter/employer for that specific event is most likely not in your time zone. That means you need to step up that responsibility and make sure everything is sent over.

Agencies usually request a filled out W-9 with a license, passport, SSC, or a mix. They usually want photographs or scanned images or PDFs. If the agency is paying via direct deposit, they may want a voided check and your bank routing number and account details. On the other hand, they may just want your address to send checks. It depends on the hiring manager, the agency, and the event.

You’re almost always NOT going to get taxes taken out. Sounds sweet, but you HAVE to be cautious. You don’t want the IRS knocking.

How I Keep Track

I recommend keeping a spreadsheet of all the events you’ve worked organized by month. My spreadsheet includes agency hired, client worked for, hours, expenses, and if I was paid or not (as well as any bonuses given). This helps with tracking business expenses and if the agency has paid its BA’s yet. It can take time depending on the client. Time varies!

Being a BA: Is It Right For Me?

Most people wonder if being a BA is the right fit. It requires a lot of drive, consistency, job hunting, and effort. It's hard work and you have to keep on top of things to ensure you're booked and scheduled. The industry is unpredictable and nothing is certain. But, the jobs are exciting, you make people happy, you get to travel, and meet wonderful people!

BA work isn't for anyone but it's worth the try!

Summer – the fashion season of bright and warm colors and plenty of floral prints. As we transition into fall, how do we transform our closets into fall fashion?

Of course, we can keep rocking our fantastical flowers but we can also let the flowers wither and bring on a new print instead.

Kate Spade is calling for animal prints, especially leopard, for the season of fall.

I had the opportunity to step into my local Kate Spade retailier and ask questions regarding their inventory, upcoming inventory, and the brand's plans for fall fashion.

CHICNICITY: Revolutionizing Accessories Through Headbands

10/3/2017

“CHICNICITY was created with a simple goal - Ready To Wear clothes inѕрirеd by ethnic colors & prints in соntеmроrаrу ѕilhоuеttеѕ fоr the modern woman.”

...

When picking out an outfit for the day, you normally start with your top and bottoms (whether a shirt, pants, skirt, or dress). Then you find a pair of shoes to compliment the look. Sometimes we go the extra mile to add extra details to the look such as jewelry and bags.

But what about our head?

Sure, we can add a beanie, baseball cap or sunhat but not every look fits those styles. Maybe change our hair and add a hair clip? Maybe not.

How can we bring accessories to the next level?

About CHICNICITY

CHICNICITY takes prints and styles rich in history and adapts it for the modern woman. The styles compliment any figure and any shape. Available in not only headwear; dresses, tops, skirts, and more are available.

There is an article of clothing for ANY woman – for ANY event!

I had the pleasure of meeting the designer of CHICNICITY, Boye, during the summer and I can recall feeling incredibly empowered in her looks for the CHICNICITY line.

One of the dresses I wore made me feel spunky, care-free, and whimsical. The other dress I wore made me feel sexy, sophisticated, and bold.

I loved how the same designer could pull such contrasting emotions out of me through the designs and I could hardly wait to try CHICNICITY's line of headware!

Simply Sweet: The Lilie Twist Wire Headband

Looking darling and innocent, the Lilie Twist Wire Headband ups your mane game (Love that phrase - it's from the CHICNICITY site).

The headband itself brings me a Rosie the Riveter vibe. Therefore, you can take that sense and bring your outfit to a more bad-ass look!

I decided to do the opposite and put together a look that's innocent and sweet with modern and not-so-modern aspects.

When RUE 21 closed in my local mall, I scooped a whole look! I took my black crop top, gold skirt, and hippie vibe shades and paired them with my Lilie Twist Wire Headband. I then toned down the look with Payless black heels.

Grace and Beauty: The Imanie Turband

The Imanie Turband keeps your hair in place - no matter your wildest days! It holds back my waves and brings my outfits to a new dimension.

I wanted to contrast my other two CHICNICITY looks with my outfit for the turband. I decided to go sophisticated yet graceful and flirty.

To achieve this, I took my hand-me-down dress, thrifted earrings, and Payless heels and paired it with the Imanie Turband.

This look is perfect for a night in the city, a lunch outback, or a day catching up with friends!

Rebellious and Luxurious: The Surrie Turband

Sweet? Check. Graceful? Check. Rebellious? CHECK.

CHICNICITY Headbands can truly help you pull off any style. They add the pop you're missing to rock a look. The headbands fit cute and sweet skirts and dresses, but what about something more alternative?

I took my Surrie Turband and I brought it to an unheard of look: Luxurious and Rebellious!

My $5 thrifted mink jacket, my $2 thifted pants, my hand-me-down heels and earrings, and a department store tank top helped bring out this unique outfit concept proving the power of accessorizes and how CHICNICITY can help add to any look!

Brand Ambassador Tips and Tricks 2: Types of Work and The Differences

9/26/2017

Welcome back, class, to the second lesson on becoming a BA Jedi Master! Today I’m laying down the basics on the types of BA work, the differences, and some more vocab terms. Yay...vocab…

If you haven’t read the first blog post, visit it here before reading this one:
http://www.samanthagottlich.com/blog/batipsandtricks1

The Significance of this Post

It’s good to know the different types of jobs before you sign up. Sampling, event registration, and BA work all differ but some job postings may be titled as “BA” job with the specific details in the description. Knowing the differences can prevent you from signing up for a job you may not have intended to work or may not have experience to take on just yet.

What’s Best For You?

There are all sorts of types of BA work out there. As a BA, you will learn what you like and what works for you, your interests, and your personality. I suggest you pursue what fits your needs and wants so you will find events that allow you to express your interests, have fun, and have a successful activation.

If you’re not a fan of big crowds or loud noises, know there are options for you. If you prefer to work locally, there are options, too. Working in markets you prefer (children, family, adult, nightlife, so on) are possible, as well.

The Types of Jobs in The BA Field

Brand Ambassador (Broad):

As previously stated in the first blog post, a BA is a person you may see at an event wearing a company’s shirt or logo. You may see them handing out free promotional items or telling you about the services or a brand. They represent a brand and work instructed tasks by the team leader.

Being a BA can be composed of anything from talking to people about a brand, running a game at a blueprint, handing out premiums, registering guests on IPads, so on. The tasks differ with each client and event.
Picture

Product Specialist:

A Product specialist is a person who is trained to be an expert on a client’s specific product or line of products. Product specialist can be someone who is trained to know the ins and outs of a car model, a line of drink products, or just about anything.
Picture

Brand Ambassador vs. Product Specialist:

Product Specialists are more trained than BA’s and they are essentially a tier above BAs. During an event, a BA would pull customers into the blueprint to chat with them and to jumpstart the initial conversation (peak the prospective customers curiosity and interest) but when the prospective consumer has more questions, a Product Specialist steps in.

Here is an example to illustrate the difference:

There is a fan-fest in the parking lot to a popular sporting venue. Car companies, insurance companies, and a popular food chain have blueprints within the fan fest. One of the car companies has its line of new summer cars and trucks. BA’s are handing out sunglasses with the car company’s name on it. A prospective customer comes up to the
Picture

Product Demos:

A BA who works a product demo is hired to show consumers how a product is demonstrated, how it works, and its features. For an example, that could be a BA showing off how an appliance or technology works.

Some recruiters and job postings use the word product demo and food sampling interchangeably. A product demo could also be a BA showing how a drink mix is made.

Food/Drink Samplings/Tastings:

A food or drink sampling or tasting is usually held at a grocery store, market, or mall. A food handler (or BA) may be serving samples of a food or drink product in order to boost brand awareness. This usually occurs when a company introduces a new flavor of product or a new line.

This is most common in locations like BJ’s Wholesale club, Costco, Trader Joe’s, etc. There are almost always coupons to go along with the tasting. Sometimes you may need a food handler’s permit or ServSafe certification, depending on the brand and event and your role.

If you are working with foods such as perishables, you are more likely to need a permit or certification. I highly recommend getting your ServSafe certification. It costs $15 and it’s an easy online video course and test.
Picture

Alcohol Samplings/Tastings:

Alcohol samplings/tastings are basically the same as food samplings but with a few minor changes.

One, you have to be 21+. No, ifs, ands, or buts. And, if an agency staffs you for an alcohol promotion and you’re under 21, it’s most likely a mistake. Never work an alcohol promotion if you are under 21. It could be jeopardizing to an employer, the event hosting the tasting, and yourself.

Like food samplings, you may need to be TIPS certified for the event if you are serving alcohol. Sometimes if you are just selling bottles or pouring cups at a sampling, you don’t need a certification.

Most samplings are hosted at liquor stores and have shorter hours than other BA jobs (but usually pay better).

Event Registration Managers/Models:

An event registration manager (or model) is the person you see with the iPad or registration sheet at an event. Some events have kiosks for consumers to register to play games or receive more information about products or services and some events have models/BA’s with IPad or sheets to register guests manually.

An example would be an event registration manager registering consumers to play a game at the blueprint. They may need to provide a name, email, phone, or other demographic information in order to enter the blueprint.

Another example of an event registration manager is a customer appreciation day at a dealership. I’ve worked a bunch of these events and I personally love them! This is when a customer receives a mail-in to come into the dealership and see the deals/financing options with their car (or trading in their car). Coming to the registration desk and registering allows a customer to receive a free gift card, no matter if they buy a car or not!
Picture

Tradeshow Model

A tradeshow model is a model that stands by a booth at a tradeshow. They try to pull attendees into the booth or blueprint. They are usually briefed with information about the brand, brand messages, talking points, etc., but like a BA to a specialist, a tradeshow model pulls attendees in for specialists. Some tradeshows have restrictions on how far a model can go outside of a booth to promote the brand. Speak to the onsite contact and make sure you know the restrictions or the client can be in trouble with the tradeshow coordinators.
Picture

Greeter

I don’t think BA work can get any easier than being a greeter. A greeter greets attendees when they enter an event. They smile, say hello, maybe hand out a map or give directions. Sometimes they direct guests to complimentary drinks or products. Sometimes a greeter says “welcome to ____whatever event____ presented by ____whatever brand___”.

It’s very simple work BUT it’s very impactful. You’re the first person attendees see. If you’re rude, cold, or unprofessional, that’s the first impression of the entire event!!! You’ve got one chance to make sure the entire event appears welcoming and friendly.

Other Similar Jobs

There are other jobs that lineup with the BA world but they're a little different than the ones above. Here are some other examples of work you may want to try out.

Backup/ Onsite Backup

A backup, or onsite backup, is a person who is hired at a flat rate to come to a blueprint. They are hired just in case the originally schedule team of BAs cannot make the event. With car troubles, sickness, etc, agencies have to prepare for the worst! If a backup isn't needed, they're paid and sent home for the day. But, if they are needed, they don't receive the flat rate and instead receive the hourly rate and work the event in place of who dropped out.

Labor Staff

Some blueprints are set up when BA's arrive. Sometimes you have to help set them up or break them down. But,if the blueprint is complex, recruiters might hire specifically a labor team to tackle the breakdown and set up of a blueprint.

Labor teams are predominately male (job postings almost always specifically ask for strong men). This can be a very quick and painless job for those who'd rather set up and take down an event than be a social butterfly BA during the event.

Sign Spinners

You've seen them outside of wireless carrier businesses, sandwich shops, and car washes. Yes, sign spinners! Some recruiters specifically hire people to spin signs for blocks of times for promotions. It's a good alternative job for someone who would rather work smaller events and who are on the shyer/less talkative side.

Mascot/Character Work

If you're theatrical and love making kids' dreams come true, mascot work might be up your alley! These jobs are great for Disney dreamers and former drama kids. The costumes can be tricky but the clients are usually incredibly understanding on how much effort it takes to be a great mascot. Know your rights as a mascot first (times in costume, times on break, times out of costume, etc). Mascots can be hired for larger events like parades, parties, malls, conferences, sporting games, etc.

In addition, you may want to be a "Handler" which is essentially the body-guard/voice of the mascot!

Where Do You See You?

Now that you know there are TONS of options outside of being a BA, what do you want to do?

If you’ve been a part of the New England fashion scene recently, you’ve most likely seen or heard the name “The Lucky Onez”.

With a tagline like “Live well. Look well. Feel well”, you KNOW The Lucky Onez has a message and style that guarantees you confidence and class unlike any designer you’ve seen before.

Being featured in fashion shows around the country, The Lucky Onez is a new and growing clothing brand that shows no signs of stopping.

Introducing, The Lucky Onez

When I first came across The Lucky Onez, I automatically tuned in. The Lucky Onez brings streetwear and luxury together in harmony to create looks that are comfortable, fierce and fresh.

The Lucky Onez is a team composed of Marveil (CEO and Fashion Designer), Eseosa (CEO and CMO), Eddie (CEO and PR), and Taiye (CEO and Found of TLO Records). With a strong team of 4 brilliant young minds, success is unavoidable!

What made me tune into TLO was their ability to touch on any article of clothing and bring their own TLO look to it. The brand sells both women’s and men’s clothing. You can pick up anything from dresses, skirts, leggings, crewnecks and tops. In addition, you can accessorize with their signature TLO hats and beanies. How can you not appreciate the line’s ability to take on so many styles?

Set The Trends, Flawlessly

TLO is a perfect addition to any girl (or guy’s) closet. You can easily switch up your TLO pieces to make endless looks. I love that I can go out on the town with my girls in my TLO skirt and crop top combo then come home in switch into the TLO comfy leggings, while still rocking the crop top. Two separate looks created by easily switching out pieces.

For example, my red summer crop top is only $25 on TLO site. I can easily pair my own jeans, shorts, skirts, and sweats with the top and interchange looks. My crop top easily brings a casual shorts and sneakers look to a whole new level! The vibrant and deep red top plus my favorite matte red stick leads to a deadly combination. Add my signature AMI Clubwear red heels for maximum attitude and flirtiness!

Brand Ambassador Tips and Tricks 1: The Basic Terms You Need To Know and My Background

9/9/2017

I am regularly asked, “how do you become a B.A.? What are some tips and tricks? How do you start?”.

I’ll be totally honest, I am happy to help others with tips and tricks I’ve gained and learned…BUT…it can be a lot of work responding to everyone who asks. I feel like half my texts, Facebook messages, emails, and Instagram DM’s are questions asking for BA help or fashion show help. It can be incredibly time consuming responding to each individual message. MOSTLY when there isn’t one solid answer on how to get started as a BA.

I’ve decided to create a mini guidebook through my blog to hopefully help others who want to explore the BA work-world.

Welcome to post 1 of BA Tips & Tricks!
Picture

My Background in Marketing & BA Work

Most know that I’m a Marketing major. It’s in my blood. Since I was 16, I’ve lived and breathed spreading brand-awareness. I started working as a Social Media Marketer for clubs in my high school (Drama club and literary magazine) which led me to going to college for marketing.

When I was a freshman, I did marketing for an event planning company before it blew up in flames. I then moved on to marketing for an IT startup and giving marketing tips and consultations to a photography company, a sailing team, a food delivery program, and a science program. Up until here, I had never been paid for my work, time, or effort.

After finishing my first year of college, I applied to a marketing internship at a firm. I was hired and marketed very well-known colleges and universities in the US (colleges ranging from MA, NY, VT, to all the way to CA!). This was my first paid position where I even had my own desk and cubicle. During this summer (2016), I went to a business I knew of and proposed a marketing plan. The owner dug it and I marketed his 3 businesses for over a year.

During my second year of college, my work study leveraged my skills and I was hired to market for my school’s sustainability initiative. I marketed throughout the school year and on-and-off with my previous summer client while taking on a fall internship (marketing a coffee chain) and a spring internship (marketing an insurance company). After that academic year ended, I took on 2 new clients (briefly a party rental company as well as an Italian chain I love and still market for).

At this time, I became curious about BA work. I started to Google and ask questions and took my first BA job in May of 2017. I had no idea how to start but I wanted to explore different work options while sticking to working in marketing. I wanted to gain more skills and insights from different types of marketing, outside of social media marketing. Plus, I wanted to have fun while working! (Which seems rare).

From May to September, I have worked for 27 different brands. I’ve learned a lot in the past few months and I’m ready to pass on my experiences in order to help others with their own journeys through BA work!

What is a BA?
And Other Vocabulary Words.

So, you read my background and you're still not bored? You're still here? Are you ready to be school'd? It's time to lay down the basics!

Noteworthy Terms

A BA is a Brand Ambassador.
This word is interchangeable with Promotional Model or Brand Representative. They are the people or person you may see at an event wearing a company’s shirt or logo. You may see them handing out free promotional items or telling you about the services or a brand.
BAs are paid to be the spitting image of a client. They are being paid to be happy, cheerful, informative, and willing. They are instructed to hand out premiums, fliers, or greet guests. They are handpicked by an agency or recruiter then sent to a client for review. It can be a process to be hired based on the event and client.

As previously stated, a Brand Ambassador acts as a representative for a client and represents the client in a positive manner.  But what is a client?

A client is a brand/company/ corporation who wants to expand their brand awareness. A client may be an automotive company, a line of food products, a company that sells a service, so on! A client is interchangeable term with a company that is hiring to get the word out about their company in a fun and engaging way. The client hires an agency or recruiter to staff an activation with brand ambassadors in order to spread brand awareness.

Brand awareness is simply how well the common person recognizes (has awareness) of a company or brand.  A client may expand their brand awareness through a campaign that has a blueprint at a larger event. This usually occurs in a fun and engaging way. An example of a blueprint would be a booth or section at a sports game which promotes the brand (such as a free game sponsored by _x_ brand or company).

The act of getting BAs together at a blueprint and working is called an activation.  It’s also the act of a team of BA’s working to promote brand awareness of a brand. A successful activation would be when a blueprint is successful: more people are aware of the brand through coming by the blueprint, premiums are handed out, and there are more prospective consumers.

Premiums are another word for promotional items given out during an activation and prospective consumers are consumers who are now more inclined to being a loyal consumer.

Basics...down!

So, you've got the basics down? You know the terminology? These terms are used on site of an activation so make sure you are familiar with these words:
  • BA
  • Client
  • Brand awareness
  • Blueprint
  • Activation
  • Premiums
  • Prospective consumer

Now that you've got the terms down, you're ready for part 2:
Types of Work and The Differences

Tips and tricks to be continued...

N.Y. CHULA From Local T.V. to N.Y.C

9/7/2017

NY CHULA  is taking over, one state at a time!

After an incredibly successful summer of presenting at Fashion Week Rhode Island and appearing on The New You Show, NY CHULA is traveling to the heart of emerging fashion in the states, New York Fashion Week. There, NY CHULA will be selling the irresistible new Cookies and Cream hat collection.

N.Y. C.H.U.L.A - More Than Just Fashion

N.Y. CHULA is an innovative line that pairs the timelessness of fur and leather with the modern and expressive aspects of today. After appearing at FWRI back at the Mint Gallery and later presenting at the FWRI segment this summer (blog post coming soon), it's clear that NY CHULA is on the move and taking over the fashion scene!

But what sets NY CHULA aside from every other leather brand on the market?

N.Y. CHULA  is more than just fashion.
Picture

Vibrant Colors, Endless Options

N.Y. CHULA stands out when other leather brands blend in. Collections such as the Skye Collection combines fairy tale blue with gold trimmings to create an iconic look (pictured below).

Collections are composed of a skirt and top which both can be tied to your unique shape and are flexible with your proportions! Skirts can be swapped for jeans and tops can be paired with fur coats, denim jackets, and even "the boyfriend shirt" to create endless looks.

As someone who is a little larger in the bust, I was a bit worried when I initially tried on NY Chula but to my pleasant surprise, the top could easily be altered to fit me!

New York Children’s Help Under Loving Authority

N.Y. CHULA  is MORE than "just fashion". Chula is a Spanish slang word for "beautiful woman", but the Chula in N.Y. C.H.U.L.A stands for "Children's Help Under Loving Authority".

5% of daily purchases are donated to children's charities, of the shopper's choice! Currently,  N.Y. CHULA is donating to Canines For Disabled Kids, a foundation that provides service dogs to children in need.

In addition, individual products give back to individual charities. For example, purchasing the Rose Pom Pom from the Cookies and Cream hat collection benefits Breast Cancer Research.

N.Y. CHULA Takes On TV!

N.Y. CHULA presented samples from several of the signature N.Y. CHULA collections on The New You Show with Chirin Ashkar. Not only were the signature leathers shown off, the brand new Cookies and Cream Hat collection was demonstrated!

Nijah Skye Mangual gave a makeup tutorial in addition to being the makeup artist to all models and the host. Viewers were able to see the contrast in each looks, from the Cosmic collection to the Limited collection which I was excited to present.

Product Review and Date Night Style Guide: Dr. Schedu Berlin Argan Jojoba Shampoo and Conditioner

7/14/2017

My hair...where do I begin? It is such a big part of my identity and what makes me, me. Having recently cut it short due to being a little too careless with it's health, I was looking for products to bring it back to a healthy and natural state. I had to cut several inches off my hair because it was dead, dry, and honestly...gross. Being photographed often and being a model in fashion shows calls for a product that can bring me to my A-Game. Therefore, I was pretty excited to try a new hair product called "Dr. Schedu Berlin".
Picture

Date Night: Call the Doctor!

Let me set the scene: It's Thursday night. I'm pretty exhausted. I spent the morning driving 90 minutes to Newport Rhode Island to work as a mascot character. After the event, I drove 90 minutes home and immediately napped (without showering...ew). After chit-chatting with a new friend, we decide to go on a date. I've got an hour to bring my best first impression to the table and I need some serious assistance.

Dr. Schedu‬ Berlin Argan Jojoba
Shampoo and Conditioner

Dr. Schedu Berlin's Jojoba Shampoo is a combination of Argan Oil and Jojoba Oil and Dr. Schedu Berlin Jojoba Conditioner is a combination of silk proteins and almond oil. Both which leaves your hair healthy, smooth, and fabulous!

Shampoo

Benefits

  • Revitalizes hair to make it healthier
  • Gives a long lasting glow
  • Moisturizes hair
  • Leaves hair soft and smooth
  • Helps with dry and dandruff scalps

  • Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, E, and F
  • First class plant extracts

Conditioner

Benefits

  • Tames unruly and dry hair
  • Helps rough and stressed hair to become manageable
  • Restores hair
  • Protects hair from drying out, environmental influences, and split ends
  • Helps create your perfect look
  • Gives a breathtaking shine
  • Makes your hair voluptuous

Ingredients

  • Silk proteins, Avocado oil, Collagen, and Almond Oil
  • Shea Butter, Keratin, and Aloe Vera
  • Argan Oil, Jojob Oil, Algae extract
  • Vitamins, minerals, nutrients

Shower /Time!

Testing out the Shampoo: Initial Thoughts

Scent: Oh my God, this smells AMAZING. Very sweet, fragrant. It's a mature smell. This would definitely catch someone's attention.

Packaging: Unique, it's a twist cap rather. The packaging shows how luxurious the product is.

Application: Easy to scrub in and scrub out. Rinsed out of my hair easily after a minute.

Testing out the Conditioner: Initial Thoughts

Scent: Slightly different from the shampoo. Still very fragrant but more of a perfume than floral. Still lovely.

Packaging: When I took the cap off, the top became stuck which was annoying. But, I like how the conditioner is a pump rather than a twist. You rarely see hair care products that are a pump (which is easier in my opinion).

Application: Easy to scrub in. Let it set in my hair for about 6 minutes. Easy to rinse out, as well.

Time to Dry...

Voila!

Here is my hair post drying! I usually put a hair sculpting cream to enhance my waves but I didn't use anything besides my shampoo and conditioner. Look how natural and voluptuous my hair looks! Soft, wavy, and ready for anything.

My Look for Date Night!

Date night tonight! I threw on my favorite boho-chic jumpsuit and rocked my natural hair. Adding pops of color to bring out the flowers on the jumpsuit, I think I made a great first impression!

Eyeshadow: Naked 2 palette (Bootycall, Half Baked, Chopper. and Verve)

Lipstick: Color Sensational Electric Orange (880)

Jumpsuit: Marshall's,  AUW

Heels: Payless, Comfort Plus

Closing Thoughts

I am now SOLD on Dr. Schedu. I absolutely love how the shampoo and conditioner set brought out the beauty in my natural hair. Soft to the touch, beautiful look, and healthy - how could you not fall in love? This set of shampoo and conditioner now has a permanent space on the shelf in my shower and I'm excited for my sister to try the set out for herself!

Product Review and Style Guide: One Tribe Apparel

7/1/2017

Summer is here and that means fashion is shifting into styles that are more playful, care-free, and adventurous. Whether you're on the beach, hiking, or looking for a comfortable and unique look, One Tribe Apparel is perfect for you.

Combining vibrant patterns while showcasing styles modeled across 6 continents and 16 countries, One Tribe Apparel brings culture, community, and boho chic style to the US.

And guess what....THEY SUPPORT ELEPHANT RESCUE!!!

I was thrilled to have received the STUNNING Smoothie Blue Peacock Harem Pants from One Tribe Apparel. Using a few different articles of clothing, I created a bunch of looks you can reuse and play with again and again!
Picture

The Bohemian Babe

Where you going, wanderer? Combining my Harem Pants with my flowy, boho-chic top, I created a look perfect for care-free Sundays and nights at the beach.

Tip: Pair your pants and flowy top with wedges for a night on the town or throw down some sandals for a look that works for nature trails and evenings by the fire.

Comfy and color, your friends wont hesitate to ask "where did you get those pants?"

Chilly Chic

My least favorite thing about fashion is that it can "go in and out of season". NOT with the One Tribe Apparel Harem pants. Simply exchange your flowy summer top for a sweater and you have a completely new look!

Tip: I paired my red heels with my red sweater but you can pair booties as well.

Accessorize: Toss on a scarf and you're ready to deal with whatever winter throws at you.

Music Festival Fanatic

'Tis the season. Toss your Harem pants on and grab your tickets. Music festivals are in session and we're ready to turn heads at the show.

I grabbed my over-sized, thrift-shop vest and sandals for this look. But, you can pair sneakers or simply go barefoot!

Tip: Combine modern flair with thrift-shop tops for a classic and current look. Bring on those hippie-dippy vibes!

The Boyfriend Shirt

Flirty, cozy, cute. Your Harem pants aren't just for your boho days. Hanging around the house with friends or your S/O?

Toss on your Boyfriend button down and bring the pants to a whole new level. Perfect look for those at home, take-out pizza, rainy days.

Do Me A Solid

One of my favorite aspects about my Harem pants is that pairing outfits is simple, easy, and you don't have to put too much thought into it! The pants are the eye-catcher so choosing a quieter top can be an easy route.

I threw on a simple grey t-shirt and my black top. Quick and painless and both looks brought the pants to another level!

Accessorize: Grab your over-sized, gaudy bangles and match the pants' colors!

Tip: Too hot for a t? Layer tank tops to create a new look while keeping cool!

Product Review: CellULogic

6/23/2017

I'm always looking for new skincare products to help better my skin. Summer is here and that means TONS of oily sunscreen which can wreak havoc on my face (hello acne, hello a lack of confidence).

I was approached to check out a skincare product I've never heard about prior. CellULogic. "Cell-U-Logic?", I asked myself. I was excited to try this product and I'm ready to report back my thoughts.

Good for You, Good for the Planet

Cell-U-Logic is a line of skincare products that promote anti-aging through nutrient rich ingredients (green coffee, argan oil, guarana, cocoa and shea butters). There are other botanical oils and extracts which make up the products along with vitamins and minerals for toning, sculpting, and smoothing. It's very natural and composed of natural ingredients.

For me, I don't like using products loaded with chemicals or unnatural ingredients. Therefore, I was excited to check out CelluLogic

CellULogic also proudly defines itself as being GREEN. The products are eco-friendly, sustainable, and chemical-free. What's good for Mother Earth is what's good for me!

Green Coffee and Seaweed Detox Scrub

I love scrubs. Let's start there. They always make me feel fresh and clean and like I'm stripping all the dead skin from myself (too honest?).

The Cellulogic Scrub focuses on exfoliating and detoxing the skin. It removes dead cells and promotes cell turnover and circulation. It combats rough patches and eliminates toxins.

For photography sake, I used the product outside and without water but the scrub is meant to be used in the bath. I loved the smell of the scrub, it reminded me of a lime hard-candy.  It's a really peaceful scent and product.

Anti-Aging Body Repair Cream

I know what you're thinking; why is this 20 year old using Anti-Aging cream? Preventative measures make a difference!

I tried the cream and I cannot guarantee it'll make you look younger but I can say it'll give you a glow. Like the scrub, it smells really nice - like a calming spa. The cream comes out a little quick (watch out!). When I tried it, I noticed it hydrated my skin.

The recommended use is to massage the cream twice a day for 30-60 seconds in order to improve skin elasticity, enhance circulation and reduce inflammation.

Green Coffee Slimming Gel

This gel is unlike anything I've heard of before. On the package, it states to apply twice daily (and generously) throughout areas that require treatment. The gel says it'll make your skin firmer, restore elasticity to dimpled ares, as well as moisten the skin.

As I'm writing this post, I've only used the product for about a week so I cannot say from experience that it is improving my dimpled skin but I will report back after longer use!

Final Thoughts

I liked these products! My skin has been overworked through the overly sunny days and long hours in the sun. I felt a peaceful sensation using them (the aroma will bring you to your happy place).

They're refreshing and the scent is comforting. It smells great and it's natural as well. I plan to use these products regularly when I'm having personal spa days as well as share these products with my mother and aunts.

For me, I don't need the anti-aging products due to my own age but I'm glad to share these products with you or anyone who may be interested in preventative anti-aging measures or using anti-aging products! I'm excited to continue spreading the word of Cellulogic and using the products myself, mostly during these dry summer days!

Working Women: How to Dress and Prep for Business Professional Settings

6/17/2017

Let's get something straight: self expression and fashion has no limits. Even with business professional settings, you can still Dress to Express. "How do you do this?" you may be thinking. It's tricky, a little complicated, but well worth the trouble.

I genuinely believe dressing to Express is critical in business professional settings. If you're looking to make an impression on others, standing out is critical. You don't want to blend in and be another person in a crowded room. Today, I will be filling you in on one of the trickiest tasks of fashion.

Traditional with a Twist and Plenty of Tips

Following the dress code to a business professional event is necessary. You don't want to be under-dressed or appear foolish.

NEVER

Wear yoga pants or sweat pants. If the event calls for black pants, don't even reach for your yogas or black jeans. Slacks are critical to appearing knowledgeable and credible.

I recommend going to a local consignment shop for slacks. You can find name brand, expensive, and quality slacks for pennies when you check out consignment shops. Plus, it's green! Reuse and save some dough.

DON'T

Step in with scuffed or scummy shoes. Ladies, find yourself a cobbler to repair your heels. Sometimes the little nubs on the bottom of your heels may break down or rip off. Don't toss your shoes in the trash, repair them. Having a cobbler who can repair your shoes will save you money as well as be greener than fast fashion. Help Mother Earth and help yourself by finding a go-to cobbler to sweep into action.

Have Designated Business Professional Items

You never know when you'll be in a pinch and need to go to a meeting, conference, or appearance. Having items designated for those circumstances is great to have in order to be prepared.

Have...
  • Nude Bra
  • White Bra
  • Black Bra
  • Black flats
  • Black heels
  • Black slacks
  • White blouse
  • Black belt
  • Travel deodorant
  • Mints (don't swallow your gum!)
  • Clutch or purse designated for these circumstances

Got the basics down? Time to twist it!

Pick a Color, Now Pop

Don't fear color. Seriously. How many grey and black suits do you daily? It's monotonous... and you can stand out by simply picking a color  and embracing it.

Here's an example: I had my basic black blouse on for a business conference. I wanted to make a statement. I grabbed my yellow blazer and heels and paired them to stand out but also fit the business professional standards.

Bonus round: Using the same blouse, heels, and blazer I skipped my traditional black slacks and paired plaid printed pants with the same yellow streak.

Best part: This outfit did not break the bank! The blazer was $11 (thrift), blouse was $10 (thrift), hat was $3 (Rue 21 closing sale), heels were $15 (Payless), and slacks were $12 (thrift).  (Luggage is vintage PanAm luggage from my Aunt).

Patterns and Prints, Please!

Same with the bold pop of color, patterns and prints are usually avoided in business professional settings. Forget that! POP THAT PATTERN AND BREAK OUT THE PRINTS!

I took the same black blouse from the previous look and twisted it! Grabbing a black and white polka dotted blazer and matching heels with a similar look, I created a bold but business professional outfit. The look took the traditional black and white styles but gave it a twist with the pop of purple and polka dot pattern.

Bonus round: Out of the business setting and on the go? Swap heels for bold flats and drop the blazer. Add a statement necklace (like my Fork Squid) to the look.

Final Thoughts

Everyone has their own unique style! I highly recommend experimenting with business professional options but it is not forced. Feel comfortable in your look and be yourself!

Back In Business: The Relaunch of Dress to Express

6/13/2017

Sometimes we need something to give us a little extra kick, nudge, shove, to get to where we ought to be.

That kick, that nudge, and that shove was in a form that I did not expect.

Serving with a Smile, Despite The Pain

From March 10-19, I visited New Orleans on a service trip (...I'll get more into the trip on another post in the future). While on the trip, I developed some pretty vicious chest pains. I thought they were caused by anxiety due to being out of my comfort zone (maybe too out of my comfort zone and I hadn't come to grips with it?). The pains continued throughout the trip with fellow volunteers offering healing prayers for me as well as others claiming the pain came from my Cajun food indulgence.

Fast forward, it's March 28th. My pains had grown so vicious, I could no longer walk and talk at the same time, pay attention in class, couldn't stay awake, and couldn't lay down without feeling like I'm DROWING. The university health services, who saw me twice, were convinced it was Cajun food until a urine test seemed strange.

Long story getting longer, I hit the ER and they find that the sack around my heart is filled with 3 cups of fluid (rather than the 1 tablespoon you're supposed to have). I roll into surgery, am sliced open, and spend over a week in 2 different hospitals.

So What's the Deal?

Lupus. That's it. From June of 2016, I had experienced abnormal blood tests, went in and out of gastrology, and felt increasingly sicker. Why is my hair falling out? Why are my fingers and feet ballooning up? Where is my energy? No answers. So from June to March I lived with constant confusion and symptoms that I simply ignored, as I felt ignored by my doctors.

I swear, everyone told me it wasn't lupus. I heard "autoimmune hepatitis" and "acid reflux" on loop. "It's never lupus". It can't be lupus...

And here I am, with Lupus.

Certainty in Uncertainty

Listen, I don't know if my hair will ever stop falling out. I don't know if my surgical scars will ever fade. I don't know if I will ever live without handfuls of daily medication. I don't know if I'll ever forget the disgusting feeling of a draining tube being pulled out of me. I do know I will always remember March 28th and April 5th (day I was released) as two major days in my life.

And with all that being said..

I have something with me that wasn't there before. Something so rare, so precious, no monetary value can be attached.

I have this newfound and unfathomable appreciation for life and a sense of acceptance for all that comes my way. I had a thumb war with death and disease and I refused to back down.

I will never be able to turn back to the life I led before this procedure. There is no more normalcy. BUT... was there ever in my life?

So...Here's the Deal

I will model and continue down that path until my hair falls out completely (if it cannot be halted). And if it does, I will purchase so many wigs, every day will be a new hair adventure.

I will continue to live so freely and without borders that I will continue to baffle my family and doctors. I have learned that my only border is myself. As long as I am healthy, I will continue to challenge myself daily and seek out all I crave in life.

I will strive to empower women and men to embrace their individualism through style and fashion. I will continue to hopefully motivate others to BE THEMSELVES and to live FULFILLED. I personally would've been pissed if I died from the fluid buildup in my heart and if I did die, I would've died unfulfilled. Now everyday I make sure my life is undoubtedly adventurous and fulfilled. I hope to move others to live passionately and unapologetically.

I hope to show others that even though a person is sick, they can conquer anything and do whatever they damn well please.

I have Lupus but my Lupus doesn't have me.

Bringing Bold Colors to Spring - Style Guide, Featuring Tobi

3/27/2017

When Pantone released the color of the year, fashion forecasters new exactly what to expect. Greenery, named the color of the year, meant shades of green were in and last year’s pastel blue and pink (Serenity and Rose Quartz) were out. It was time to let the sweet and delicate colors go for something fiercer and deeper in color. Out with the old, and in with the bold.

My new favorite online store is Tobi, a clothing company based in California that brings high fashion trends to the table at affordable prices. Prices that even a college student like me can afford! Tobi covers everything from casual-wear, elegant and formal looks, beach day necessities, and even accessories that add the finishing touches to any look. Tobi is aware of what's in style, and what isn't, and provides its customers with high quality clothing and styles to die for!

As spring rolls around, I know everyone will break out their floral looks (complete with pink, yellow, and blue flowers). But what about breaking the norm and embracing Pantone’s color of the year? Winter isn’t the only time for green and red.

It’s time to break the tradition of dark colors in the winter and light colors in the spring. It’s time to be bold.

Evergreen Goddess:
The Madi Green Maxi Dress

You've heard it before, "every girl needs a little black dress". But what if the dress you need isn't a little black dress? What if the dress you need is one that can be both elegant and casual at the same time?

My Madi Green Maxi Dress is the outfit my closet was missing. With a simple change in shoes, this dress can go from a casual outfit of hanging out in the yard or an elegant gown for an evening on the town. Switching from a pair of flats to nude wedges enhances your look and brings you from afternoon lunch to late night celebration.

At a first glance, you'll think this gown is straight to the floor. In reality, the straps, high-low, and slit brings the dress to an elegance that only Tobi can deliver.

Simple yet intricate, how can you not feel like a Hollywood star?

Step, no, strut, into spring with the daring darkness of green. Feel sexy, empowered, and gorgeous. What's a better way to embrace the color of the year, break the tradition of spring floral looks, and keep up with the most stylish trends?

Playful and Precious:
The Lexa Mint Sequin Skater Dress

As the great Diana Ross would say, "I'm coming out, I want the world to know, got to let it show!".

Well, if you're ready to make a statement and be the Cinderella of any event, the Lexa Mint Sequin Skater Dress will be the dress that captures any room's attention.

Mint is an absolutely underrated color and how many times do you see sequin outfits that fit your age? Sequin outfits can be hard to pull off, sometimes they look too childish. But, Tobi brings flirtation and sequin together to create an unforgettable look.

Some ideas I've had? Matching a white cardigan and white sandals for an Easter look or even an outfit for when attending a wedding as a guest! Better yet, ditch the cardigan, show off the back, and head into the city for a night with your best friends or your significant other! This dress can be transformed and played with in so many ways
(trust me, I even broke out my roller-skates to complete the look!)

When I first put on my Lexa Mint Sequin Skater Dress, I felt playful and precious in it due to the sequin, light color, length, and waistline. Then after a glance in the mirror, I felt sexy and flirty due to the cut of the front of the dress and the dress's back.

Can you say you have an outfit that makes you feel playful, precious, sexy, and flirty all at the same time?

Passion and High Fashion:
Kehlani Wine Two Piece Romper Set

Hop online, we see high fashion designers and revolutions in the fashion industry. Unique and intricate cuts and details, bold colors, and vivid prints. Styles to die for but prices that make you die inside.

Take a step back and loosen your grip on your wallet because Tobi brings affordable high fashion to your life. Unappreciated colors like cranberry and wine are making an appearance and with spring around the corner, ditching light pink for wine is a bold move.

My Kehlani Wine Two Piece Romper blows the traditional one-piece romper out of the water. The shorts and top's cut is incredibly unique when combined with the rarely used wine color.

Adding a floral pair of heels or patterned sneakers breaks up the outfit, but a sharp pair of black flats or black glossy heels is also a great way to top off the look!

I plan to wear my Kehlani Wine Two Piece Romper to a fashion show as I attend as a guest during the warmer weather (this outfit IS fashion show fierce). I can't wait to hit the boardwalk in my favorite beach wedges and show off a romper that slays every other romper in the fashion game!
